Could be tomorrow
I received a phone call this morning from a friend who is also a client of mine. She took 2 policies from me for her 2 kids. Last year, her husband passed away. He had cancer. She said everything went so fast, from the first diagnosis til the final breath.
Last time I met her, she said, her husband has a car which has been fully paid, but he had never took the registration card from the bank, reason being 'senang nak renew insurance and road tax'. Now, she has problem of getting the registration card. That card is needed for her lawyer to do the 'surat kuasa'. I dont know whats the status about that now.
Then, she said to me this morning, she just knew that her late husband didnt have any insurance for one of the house owned by him. Now that he's gone, my friend has to keep on paying the installment of the house. She was almost in tears while talking to me just now. I just dont know how to react.
Now, its a lesson learned for me and I'm sharing this with everyone. There's a lot of things need to be considered while we are alive. Make sure that you have a life insurance to cover your house at least an MRTA. Just imagine, you're in my friend's shoe, obviously she lost her husband, the father to her kids, a breadwinner to her family, now she's about to lose the house (if she couldnt pay the installments).
In general,
you have to have an insurance, even if you dont own a house. Just please make sure you leave something for your loved ones. Please dont let them suffer. Death benefit from insurance is the fastest cash money your family will get because its credit proof. It doesnt have to go through a lawyer, tak payah buat surat-surat kuasa ni. Kalau ada duit banyak dalam bank ke, ASB ke, Unit Trust ke, banyak harta ke,
STILL bila mati semua nak kena tunggu surat kuasa, barulah all those akan dibahagikan pada pewaris (sampai tercakap BM dah.. huhu).
One more thing, make sure you have a will. I'm gonna get myself licensed to do will writing. With a will, you'll make everything easier for your next of kin. Nak buat surat kuasa tu lagi senang.
Remember, you already have a birthcert stating your birth date, but you are yet to have a death cert stating your date of death. Could be tomorrow...
